HUMPHRIES LEADS SOUTHWEST TRACK TEAM: Senior distance standout Robert Humphries finished runner-up in the 2-mile (10:47.12) and 4th in the mile (4:50.53) and helped the 4x800 relay earn another 4th (9:10.09) at Thursday's (March 21) McDonald County Relays in Anderson. Other notable performances: Freshman Bryar Llewellyn was 7th in the mile in 5:03.18; Sophomore Vic Tellez was 14th in the 800 in 2:20.38; Senior Juliauna Sierra was 16th in the javelin at 57 feet, 7 inches. The team goes to Republic Monday. March 25, and Diamond Tuesday, March 26.

SOFTBALL UPDATE: The Lady Trojans played against Billings last night at home. It was a loooooonnngggg battle, but we are so proud of their focus and determination to win! The final score was 22-23 in 8 innings. Addison Keates had an outstanding night at the plate going 4 for 6 with an RBI. Jacee Durossette went 3 for 5 with her first HOMERUN of the season! Kaleigh Tull and Addy Payne were clutch hitters each with a pair of hits that combined for 5 RBIs! Riley Flippo went 3 for 4 for 3 RBIs. Raeli Miles was tough to put away last night. She went 2-2 and drew 4 walks in her 6 plate appearances! We are back in action at HOME on Thursday (3/21) against Blue Eye.

SOFTBALL UPDATE: The Lady Trojans traveled to Exeter Monday night, March 18, for a very chilly softball game. We jumped in the lead in the second inning, scoring 4 runs on a pair of walks, a pair of errors, and a single by Alissa Russell, but then didn't score again for the remainder of the game. Kaleigh Tull started on the mound and only gave up 4 earned runs with 3 strikeouts. Jacee Durossette was brought in for relief after two and two-thirds innings. She only allowed one hit and zero earned runs, striking out five in her two and two-thirds innings. On the offensive side, all the Lady Trojan hitters worked the counts through the entire game drawing 6 walks and forcing 2 errors, but it just wasn't enough as we fell to the Exeter Tigers 4-14.

AG CDE RESULTS: On Saturday, March 16, our CDE teams traveled to Marshfield for a contest. There were 82 chapters from all over the state that competed. LADY TROJAN SOFTBALL TEAM: The Lady Trojan Softball Team competed in the Cheri Nash Memorial Tournament at Verona this past Saturday. It was a long, but beautiful day full of lessons to be learned by the players! "It will be a great booster into our first full week of games," said Coach Emily Snyder. We had a tough start to the day with an 18-0 loss to Marionville. Kaleigh Tull pitched 4 innings and had 6 strikeouts. In the second game of the day the Lady Trojans generated some offense, but still fell 8-7 to the Exeter Tigers. Addison Keates led off and went 2-3 with 2 RBIs Riley Flippo, Jacee Durossette, and Addyson Payne each had doubles with runners on base. Jacee Durossette also pitched the entire 4 innings with 6 strikeouts and gave up only 2 walks! In the final game of the day the Lady Trojans beat the Wheaton Lady Bulldogs 20-3. Addison Keates went 1 for 1 with a double and two walks and scored on all 3 of her plate appearances. Kaleigh Tull added another double in this game and scored on all 3 of her plate appearances. Riley Flippo went 2 for 3 with a triple and a double adding 4 more RBIs to her stat line. Ralei Miles had a couple of hits and contributed 2 runs. Addyson Payne dominated both sides of the ball. She went 3 for 3 at the plate with a walk and an RBI. She pitched the complete 3 innings giving up only 2 earned runs, 2 walks, but had 3 strikeouts. Piper King contributed 2 singles. And Becca and Gracie Swanepoel each had one. Abby Callison, Kindred Durossette, Addison Cotton, and Sophie Schweers each contributed hits in the final inning. As a whole, the team only struck out 2 times in 33 plate appearances. We are very proud of the girls for their efforts this weekend. We are back in action today (Monday) against the Exeter Tigers at their place. We have our first HOME outing Tuesday against Billings.

SOFTBALL JAMBOREE on Monday, March 11: The Lady Trojans softball team hosted a Jamboree. Participating teams were the Wheaton Lady Bulldogs and the Crane Lady Pirates. The Trojans beat the Bulldogs 10-1 in 4 full innings. Kaleigh Tull had 5 strikeouts in 2 innings and went 2 for 3 at the plate. Jacee Durossette had 3 strikeouts in her 2 innings and had a base clearing triple in the second inning. Riley Flippo went 3 for 3, with 2 RBIs. In the second game of the evening, the Lady Trojans fell to Crane in the bottom of the 4th inning, 4-3. Freshman, Addyson Payne had 5 strikeouts in her 2 shutout innings! Kaleigh Tull and Allissa Russell each had an RBI. Quote from Coach Snyder: "Lady Trojans began to settle into their first game against Wheaton and into the second game against Crane. The Jamboree was a great start to the season and overall lots of learning happened to lead us into our first Tournament this weekend at Verona!" SOUTHWEST FINISHES MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLAR BOWL SEASON: Southwest finished 6th of 12 teams in the 10th annual Shell Knob Tournament Saturday. The Trojans went 2-3 in pool play and split their matches in bracket play. They finished the season with a record of 10-10. The team consisted of Brielee Jones, Conner Jones, McKinley Miller, Natalie Corn, and Bridget Outhouse.

MS TROJANS 3rd IN SWCL SCHOLAR BOWL TOURNAMENT: The scholar bowl team finished the conference season with a bang. The Trojans beat Spokane and Purdy to finish 3rd in the SWCL Meet at Spokane on Saturday. Brielee Jones and Conner Jones earned All-Tournament honors. In the quarterfinals, Southwest held on for a 220-190 victory over the host Owls. The Trojans fell to tourney runner-up Crane 210-180 in the semifinals. Southwest defeated Purdy 200-100 for 3rd place. Other members of the team include McKinley Miller, Bridget Outhouse, and Natalie Corn. The team returns to action in February at the 10th annual Shell Knob Tournament.

It was brought to my attention that it is being televised that SW is closed on 1/23/24. This is a misprint. As of now, we are hopeful that we will be in session. There are some dirt and gravel road across the district that were a solid sheet of ice just before dark. These areas will be checked in the morning prior to 5:00 am. If you do not get another notice, SW will be in session on Tuesday, January 23.
